Math
Throughout the year your child will complete a "Mad Minute" daily. Your child will complete as many number problems as possible in one minute. Each student will progress at his/her own pace. The goal is to see improvement from previous Mad Minutes. We will review the addition facts in September, subtraction facts in October, and begin multiplication in November.
Science
We will start the school year learning about vertebrates.
History and Social Sciences
The students will begin the year with a brief study of the United States flag.
Writing
Using the Writer's Workshop approach the students will start the year writing personal narratives and poetry. The Six Plus One Writing Traits, and Picture Writing are included in the writing curriculum.
Penmanship
The year begins with a review of the manuscript letters, then the students begin to learn cursive.
